So what is alone..
Truly in a crowd of people I can be so alone and so content
Maybe it was the fact that Rod taught me to talk to myself
Today I'm with Suzanne as she takes me down to the river
I'm in a calm space while the worlds stresses out.
I do want to travel with the sun through seasons
And in the silence I want to reach out with my mind and
Embrace the body of a lover who will escape at dawn.
Then the streetlights will be dimming with the sunrise
And I'll walk along side the river by myself, alone and yet not.

The not famous Wedding Hallelujah version
Now, I know I wasn't the first to maybe adapt Leonard Cohen's song to be more "Wedding" or "Religious" rather than his passionate love piece that is more about broken love than unrequited love.
2011 I posted this to youtube, and it continually gets views and peaked at 105 in a day recently, all just end trails from the Priest singing a version in Church. I'm not gritching or complaining... just would love to hear if my tweaks to the song inspired anyone to do the same.
The lyrics are also posted on my Musings blog at : http://davezeman.blogspot.com/2011/04/hallelujah-wedding-version.html Also getting a few hits lately.
Here they are for you:

"Hallelujah" (wedding version)
I've heard there was a secret chord
That David played, and it pleased the Lord
For you today we rejoice with music, with you
It goes like this
The fourth, the fifth
The minor fall, the major lift
Beloved king composing Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Your faith was strong but you needed love
Saw each other as light rose above
Beauty and the moonlight overthrew you
In a moment both became aware
You now share the throne with loving care
And from your lips, you sing Hallelujah
Today you have been here before
You know this room, You’ve walked this floor
You used to live apart before You knew each
So raise your flag on the marble arch
Love is a victory sacred march
So rejoice and go singing Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
That David played, and it pleased the Lord
For you today we rejoice with music, with you
It goes like this
The fourth, the fifth
The minor fall, the major lift
Beloved king composing Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Your faith was strong but you needed love
Saw each other as light rose above
Beauty and the moonlight overthrew you

You now share the throne with loving care
And from your lips, you sing Hallelujah
Today you have been here before
You know this room, You’ve walked this floor
You used to live apart before You knew each
So raise your flag on the marble arch
Love is a victory sacred march
So rejoice and go singing Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

The muse returns!
I've been feeling dry lately... a lack of words though not a lack of passion.

The other day I was humming Leonard Cohen's masterpiece, Hallelujah, and noted the structure, 8, 8, 10, with the 10 rhyming through out the entire song. As a challenge, I decide to write a piece in that structure. My Fantasy is of course fitting my style of dreaming. It is not merely one woman in this fantasy but a blend of many over my 55 years of eating lunch alone at a variety of places.
Then this weird world of Twitter has people who play the part of characters. I ended up being followed by Lady Rose MacClare, and I was just being playful saying I wrote a piece for Mary but anything for Rose may end up being a little sassy. She blew me a kiss, what was I to do but write something. Ah... that feels good.

Hallelujah lyrics
So I was memorizing Leonard's Hallelujah song, and was attentive to the 3rd and 4th verses were different than the Buckley cover... as a songwriter, I really liked the fourth verse...
I did my best, it wasn't much
I couldn't feel, so I tried to touch
I've told the truth, I didn't come to fool you
And even though
It all went wrong
I'll stand before the Lord of Song
With nothing on my tongue but Hallelujah
here is the whole song that I've been listening to, and here's the WikiPedia article link... great stuff.
"Hallelujah"
Now I've heard there was a secret chord
That David played, and it pleased the Lord
But you don't really care for music, do you?
It goes like this
The fourth, the fifth
The minor fall, the major lift
The baffled king composing Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew you
She tied you
To a kitchen chair
She broke your throne, and she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah
Baby I have been here before
I know this room, I've walked this floor
I used to live alone before I knew you.
I've seen your flag on the marble arch
Love is not a victory march
It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
There was a time you let me know
What's really going on below
But now you never show it to me, do you?
And remember when I moved in you
The holy dove was moving too
And every breath we drew was Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
You say I took the name in vain
I don't even know the name
But if I did, well really, what's it to you?
There's a blaze of light
In every word
It doesn't matter which you heard
The holy or the broken Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
I did my best, it wasn't much
I couldn't feel, so I tried to touch
I've told the truth, I didn't come to fool you
