It was that kind of day...

First I played music for my first funeral.  A beautiful 30 year old teacher lady with two great kids and the nicest husband who also is a teacher.  We played this song written by Tommy Walker, and Jenny's name was spliced into it...

Then I had the house alone... and I got out the equipment:

Of course I shared this in Facebook saying "Guess what will go on during a quiet house?" and Rusty James posted this hilarious video. She noticed one yesterday, and then the next the day they were everywhere...

First up... a Wild Mountain Thyme.. a song that is old enough it could have been played during Downton Abbey.  The lyrics I downloaded had Blooming Heather, and I changed it to Purple Heather in honor Jenny's favorite color.

Finally I had a chance to record Tom Paxton's "The last thing on my mind".. and I was amazed it's in it's 50th anniversary year.

Baptized and Set Free.

The premise behind The Zemmy Show was that it was kind of a modern Johnny Cash show, and you know Johnny loved a good hymn too. Here's also a great blog about the song. http://caseyandthesunshine.blogspot.com/2013/01/baptized-and-set-free.html

Morning has broken / Baptized in Water Bunessan Hymn

I saw a little spike in views for my instrumental cover of a great hymn, but also a great Cat Stevens song... I guess it was the weekend celebrating Jesus' baptism... Congrats Jesus you started a whole new religion with mega influence down south.. ;-)

When the Angels come out

Our Rose River band has a few friends that seem to follow us around, and even to church. One of them is Justin Bodin, and to meet Justin is to instantly know you've met a friend with overflowing love for everyone. He penned a poem and passed it to Tim to see if we could play it at Church. I didn't have to change it much at all to make it the following song. Justin's dad works with Tim, and is related to the original owners of the Bodin fishing outfit out of Bayfield Wisconsin. If you have ever tasted Lake Superior Whitefish, you know that it is something else. That preciousness is the same that Justin lives his life... Sweet! Enjoy some dancin angels... I'll get you a tape of some better singers of the song someday.

Dave

Chorus
When the Angels come out
In the moonlight they sing
To the Heaven’s above
And they praise the Lord

When the Angels get together
Around the stars
They dance on the moon
All night long

When you opened the kingdom of heaven to me
For everyone to see
You gave us a new life and happiness
For others to see you.

Chorus

When we walk hand in hand with Angels on earth
All people created by God
We sing with the power of heavens above
For others to see you.

Carolyn Arends

Being a Christian, I do end up listening to classic gospel, modern and classic hymn for church service, and once in awhile modern Christian music. Most of the modern stuff I find as drivel, like love songs for God. Carolyn Arends breaks the mold. She a Canadian musician who writes songs about life, blends in folk settings to her songs. She is absolutely wonderful. So in true fitting to the Johnny Cash Show, I will sometimes broadcast my faith too. Enjoy Carolyn's "Seize the Day"... a good goal since I am burdened with a cold today.
